Protect your home and possessions with borer treatment and control
Borer, also known as woodworm, can attack all non treated timbers, devaluing your home and furniture, and the damage they cause can result in personal injury. Borer chew through untreated timber and the more they eat the weaker the timber becomes, not to mention the entry and exit holes they leave.
Borer can be a problem and can require treatment and control throughout the Wellington, Hutt Valley, Porirua and Kapiti Coast regions.
It is important to make sure your all timber items are free of borer to stop the ongoing damage to your possessions and also so they don’t spread to other areas of your home.
Helping you keep your assets
These pests cause a number of problems, especially to the structure of your house and wooden possessions. The problem with damage from borer is that it's irreversible, so you need to be sure your home is protected, or if you are experiencing problems, deal with them efficiently.
Although it is not common, borer can cause weaken timber so much you risk injury from the damage to floors and framing.
Finding the source
It is easy to locate borer damage, through holes in your valued wooden possessions, window frames or through out your home. We will take every possible action to rid the borer from your home to keep you, your family and your personal possessions safe.
Borer commonly leave a very fine sawdust like dust. Often found under window, door frames or antique furniture. If you find a suspicious fine dust, look for possible entry holes (see picture above) and give us a call.
Protecting your home from future damage
As the damage borer will leave to your home is irreversible, you need to ensure that you are protected from future damage.
You can expect a full service and a plan for the future to give the best possible protection for your home.
If you are planning to strip and then paint or varnish any timber, It MUST be treated before it is resealed. It is heart breaking to see polished floors with borer eating their way through the timber. Once it is sealed it is too late to treat.
